Role of the ESF Policy and Operations Unit

Our Role | Our Work | Rules and Practices | Contact Us

The European Social Fund (ESF) is one of the four EU Structural Funds. Their common goal is to reduce the differences in living standards between the people and regions of the EU. The ESF is used to help prevent and fight unemployment, to make Europe’s workforce and companies better equipped to face new challenges and to prevent people losing touch with the labour market, through investment in education, skills and employment support.

The role of ESF Policy and Operations Unit is to oversee all matters relating to the European Social Fund in Ireland and to represent Ireland’s position at European level in relation to the ESF.

Structure

ESF Unit comprises three distinct and independent sub-Units: the Human Capital Investment Operational Programme 2007-2013 (HCI-OP), the ESF Certifying Authority and the Equal Managing Authority.
